Powerpoint Presentions

This web site has become aware of the use of photos of the Cherry Hill field trips and of Israeli dance workshops for academic use. These pictures, with the assist of music, are being used to train students in powerpoint in Mark Rauer's introduction to computer technology classes at the Community College Of Philadelphia where Mark (or is it Marc) is a part/time instructor. Now, we made fun of Mark in the homage to scorpio section, and while he doesn't think the writeup is that funny at this time (although we're sure it will grow on him), he has been nice enough to make available to this web site (and to add some discussion of these at his own web site at www.fybbi.com) the powerpoint presentations displayed below.

But first, a little background, as explained to us by Mark. Powerpoint is one of the components of study in his class. He creates a powerpoint presentation that the students follow to get credit for that part of the course. Then sometimes he holds a contest where students can submit their version of the presentation and the best of the submissions get extra credit. Now, below we have six presentations, several dealing with previous Cherry Hill field trips and the latest one is about Pittsburgh which includes pictures of the Pittsburgh Powwow Israeli dance festival. Included in these eight is a powerpoint presentation involving the Germentown Jewish Centre craft fair. We should note that one of these presentations is by a student who won the contest that Mark ran in his class as to who could create the most interesting powerpoint presentation.

Several things to keep in mind here as expained by Mark. Most music today is in mp3 files, but powerpoint has a feature geared to wav files. These files can be embedded within the powerpoint presentation so that only one file is downloaded for you to use (as opposed to 2 files, powerpoint and mp3, if an embedded file was not used). Once the download occurs, you should get a synchronized play of the slides and the music assuming that your speakers are on and active.

Theoretically, any version of powerpoint from 1997 should be able to play these slides, however if you don't have powerpoint, a free powerpoint viewer is available at Microsoft's download center. Note: if using Powerpoint 2007, 2010 or 2013, you will be brought into the program and the slides, as marked up, will be shown. In this case, click slideshow and then the from beginning icon.
