As indicated on this website, the status of the Cherry Hill session changed during summer'13. Naomi, who had led the session for 11 and a half years (the last 8 by herself) found herself in a position where she could no longer continue her attendance on Tuesday (or any other) night. Of course Naomi atttempted to come up with a solution for the class to continue but to this point the class has been on a hiatus. However, at the end of this script we will indicate the fate of the session. Hint: We have news of a happy ending

Anyway, at the end of Sept'13, Naomi contacted the group to arrange a reunion on October 3rd. Dinner at a restaurant called Qdoba and dancing at Don's session at Adath Israel in Lower Merion were the order of the night.

Qdoba is apparaently a fast food mexican restaurant. One of its branches is in the Bala Cynwyd shopping center. This web site got there somewhat early. At first the only other Cherry Hill dancer at the reunion was Jennie but after a while many of the Cherry Hill dance regulars started to arrive together as they had carpooled. In additon, Rich showed up having received the aforementioned Email from Naomi. Pictured clockwise above around the table is Rich, Amy, Vicky (partially hidden), Malca, Ety, Jennie, Deena and Judy. Ronnie is not pictured.

Of course the entire group was waiting for the star of the evening. Above please meet Jonah who was nice enough to bring his mother, Naomi, with him to this event. As we understand it Jonah has moved up from Texas to reside in this area. Since his arrival he has enchanted the Cherry Hill group on several occasions. It's clear from this picture that he has brought great joy to his mother since coming into her life last January.

As you can see here, Jonah had no problems joining the table on the lap of his mother. It's possible that Jonah was leading a conversation about the future of the Cherry Hill dancers in these pictures but probably the discussions we see here are more maternal in nature.

This montage shows more pictures from the reunion dinner. Obviously our photograher is partial to the youngest of the participants. Everybody reports that he is the friendliest of babies and enjoyed the companionship of the group not to mention the wonder of the pie dish used to hold the taco salads.

As they say, time flies when having fun. It's time to join Don's session for dancing. The Thursday session at Adath Israel starts at 7PM. These pictures were apparently taken about that time. Note that Judy is on a crutch as a result of a broken foot and this web site wishes her a speedy recovery.

Ety and Malca, pictured above, were the first to arrive. Above we see them as part of the early arrivals to the session.

And here they come! We see the arrival of the group at Don's session and by coincidence, we also have the arrival of other dancers with connections to the Cherry Hill session. The woman in the bluish blouse with the oversized bag is Pearl who occasionally dances across the river. You can also see Darcy and Micah whose marriage in June '12 was covered by this web site and who also have attended many sessions at Cherry HIll. Of course, there are other dancers in these lines waiting to get in as it's about 7:15, a peak time for dancers to arrive at this session

Most of the Israeli dancers in the Philadelphia area know each other from various interactions through the years. And this web site has aided this interaction sponsoring several John Frank led events where dancers from Pennsylvania visited the Cherry Hill session. This montage shows groups of dancers from both sides of the Delaware river greeting each other.

One other source of interaction revolves around Don. Many years ago Don ran the Cherry Hill session (we think between 1999 and 2001). Don ceded the session to Naomi and Jody, two experienced dancers of the Sunday session at the beginning of 2002 and in 2005, with Jody leaving, Naomi became the sole leader. Therefore Don knows many of the Cherry Hill dancers personally and, as would be the norm with Don, part of the repertoire of music this night was geared to his visitors from across the river.

Israeli dancers love to dance. After hellos and some discussion, it becomes a night of beat and music. The pictures above show circle dancing during the evening with the camera concentrating on the visiting dancers from New Jersey.

One participant however could not get on the floor. You'll remember above that Judy had a foot injury. This did not stop her from entering the session although it did curtail her dancing. The picture above shows Judy situated on one of the seats on the sidelines as everyone else is in the circle. We're sure that everyone joins us in saying "thanks for being a good sport, Judy".

It is now later in the evening. Our camera once again turns onto those from Cherry Hill who were. Above we see pictures of our dancers in the circle. Of course, they did have a long ride back to consider and about 9:30 Amy, Judy, Ronnie and Deena lined up for one last shot.

Several Cherry Hill dancers remain at this point including Malca and Ety pictured above. They would be leaving quite late in the evening.

Above we said that the resolution of dancing at Cherry Hill was up in the air. In a journalistic scoop, we can report that the dancer above, Sharon Polsky, has agreed to restart the session early in November. This makes for a nice ending to a script documenting an interesting evening. And, you, dear reader, have been introduced to Jonah and even Qdoba, possibly, and the dancers of Cherry Hill
