This is a preliminary script pertaining to the Israeli dance, Suerte. Suerte starts out as vocal by the pop star Shakira. In 2004 or so the choreographer (and dance leader) David Dassa allows his class to create steps to this music. The dance has been somewhat forgotten but thanks to research by Gary Rosenberg, the Germantown session begins work on making a publicly viewed video (at the bottom of this script) and this preliminary script is a first result of that effort. Note: On this web site preliminary scripts highlight photos and video. A more permanent script should result sometime in the future.

Gary Rosenberg's excel spreadsheet showed one dance without an appropriate video and this dance was Suerte. Using various means, Grant determined the appropriate steps for the dance (a version of the dance and its steps had been active in the Philadelphia regional Israeli dance community early in the 2000's but it would turn out that several steps at that time were inaccurate) and began to reteach this during sessions early in 2018. The pictures directly below show one practice session sometime in February.

On March 25, 2018, the big day has come. A video camera is at the ready. Grant wisely plays Suerte three times during the session. The photographer, Yona Dansky, has several opportunities to take pictures from various angles to test the camera and her positioning. Many of these pictures below are taken on the second rendition of Suerte for that Sunday session sometime after 12PM. The dancers have been informed about the proposed taping and there are those who were at the session who wished to sit out (and not be photographed).

The third rendition of Suerte is the charm that results in the video below. This is a video of the willing taken sometime around 12:15PM on March 25. Notice that there are two circles. The inner circle - which includes Grant - consists of volunteers who claim knowledge and expertise in the dance. The outside cirle are those comfortable in being videod but may not have as much confidence as the inner circle. So, below, we present the public video of Suerte.
