This web site became aware of a Philadelphia regional presence at the Hilula dance camp that occurred during the weekend of Apr 27 through 29 at what is now called the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa. This became of interest both from the fact that this web site has been attempting to cover events of interest to the local Israeli dance community and for the fact that the web site has been doing research on Yiddish music, its connection to Jewish based humor, and that connection to the hotels and aura of what used to be called the Borsht belt of the Catskills. The Hudson Valley Resort and Spa is the old Granit Hotel (although much renovated) which was part of this circuit until new owners took over in 1998.

Five local dancers took part and one dancer who splits his time between New York and Phila was also included as per our attempts of coverage. The five local dancers are Tanya Buchman, Jody Goldsborough, Andrea Wallach, Milt Cohen and Marc (or is it Mark) Rauer. Our sixth dancer is Gary. Although not normally helpful to this web site, Mr Rauer was nice enough to provide the pictures he took -which we duplicate below - and indicated the limitations of these pictures which we will repeat below. We also have included pictures supplied by Jody. It should be clear as you look at these pictures that the cameras were operated by a variety of operators - generally anyone not dancing.

In Marc(k)'s case, he participated to some extent to test out the gas milage of his new car which is a Gold Prius, which he has nicknamed, Auric. In his words, "Auric did up if not better than 50 miles per gallon for the entire trip of about 500 miles." For those interested in where the name comes from, please see him as we have no idea and no doubt there is some long and boring story associated with this.

As per the photography, these pictures of his were taken by a Casio combination movie/still Exilim micro camera. This does not have the depth, focusing or TTL ability of modern still cameras and we have needed to crop many of these shots as only limited parts of these are in focus. Similar results pertained to the pictures from Jody's camera.
