It is kind of interesting to keep track of old team names and locations. Here's some trivia on this but it's hardly complete. Thus we have incomplete lists for 3 sports: Baseball, Football and Basketball. We should add that studying these three sports gives one an appreciation for the changes in transportation within the United States. Baseball teams at one time followed the train system through the Northeast and Midwest, Basketball was originally a sport following bus service throughout the East, Northeast and Midwest and Football indicates use of car throughout the Midwest and early Airplane (and we mean airplane) service. First let's start with Baseball

and finally, what about the team logos. This type of artwork is interesting and it shows the fads of those years. Take the Athletics with the Elephant. Without great research, one would assume that this symbolized the Pennsylvania (Philadelphia and suburban) government power structure as the elephant is also the symbol of the Republican party. As for the others, it makes sence that the Browns logo is brown. The Cards logo is not that much different than what the Phoenix logo is today showing a caricature of a cardinal. And, any New Yorker mourns the loss of the Dodgers logo in 1958.
